Capt. John Tyler Jacobs Gen. M. Jeff Thompson's Command, CSA Missouri State Guard

Captain John Tyler Jacobs, great-great-grandfather of Past Camp Commander Brent Jacobs and Compatriot Bryan Jacobs.  He was attending VMI (Virginia Military Institute) when the War for Southern Independence began. While at VMI, Capt. Jacobs was one of the cadets present at John Brown's hanging after the raid on Harper's Ferry in 1859. The cadets were led by Major Thomas J. Jackson, later Confederate General "Stonewall" Jackson.
